It was my seventeenth birthday. My family and I were on our way to the big city, Chicago. I didn't want anything specific. I just simply wanted to be in Chicago for my birthday. The car ride was long and tiresome but we eventually got to our destination in a timely manner. There was one store in particular that I wanted to check out. Jordan had just opened a retail store in Chicago on State Street and State Street was where we were heading first. We walked into the store and I was in heaven! I loved every second of it. There were so many shoes to choose from and I was determined to leave with one of them. There were the Air Jordan "Chrome" and "Three-peat" 8's which are both amazing shoes in quality. There were the "Pinnacle" Air Jordan 1's as well which are very prestigious in their own right. Then I came across one of the prettiest shoes I have ever seen. The "Chi City" Air Jordan 23's. The all red leather caught my eye immediately. This is the only retail store that had this shoe in stock. Other than here you had to get this she for resale price on the internet. I wanted this shoe. It wasn't one I would pass up on. I had the shoe in my hand, examining it from mid-sole to insole, then I looked up and saw it... I looked up and saw the CLEANEST, down right most BEAUTIFUL shoe I've ever seen in my life. The Air Jordan "Maroon" 6. They came out on December 5th and I wanted them so bad. I never got a chance to get them on release day and I did not want any part in spending $300+ on them after retail. But here I was on January 1st. My birthday. Almost a whole month after their release day. Right in front of my eyes. IN MY HANDS. I needed them. I forgot all about any of the shoes I saw during that day. I asked the sales' associate if they had any sizes in the back. He came out with the last shoe in the back, a size 11. MY SIZE. It could not have gotten any better than this, I didn't even need to try them on. I took them to the front counter and my dad and I split the bill. On Valentine's Day I went out on a date with my girlfriend. This was my second time wearing my "Maroon" 6's. The night was amazing and the outfit I had on was smooth and the Maroon 6's just brought everything together. I got home that night and took them off ever so gently (like I always do). I was about to put them in the box and saw what seemed to be a nightmare. The heel was cracking. The paint on the heel was cracking. I was so upset. I could have cried. I only wore them once before then and neither of the wears were heavy at all. They were both for a couple of hours. I could not fathom how or why this would happen to me... I started doing research on the shoes and kept seeing reviews of the same mishaps I went through. It turns out that this certain sneaker release was one of the worst in terms of quality in the whole year of 2015. The whole situation to this day makes my heart hurt. I still wear them here and there and I always think about my history with them when I have them on. Still though, to this day these are one of my most favorite shoes in my collection as you saw on my first blog post. Sometimes I wish I would've gone for the Chi City 23's or one of the Air Jordan 8's in the store but I love the Air Jordan "Maroon" 6 and all it's imperfections and will continue to love it for years to come! Here I am in my Maroon 6's.

I enjoyed reading about your Maroon 6 review. I have been to the Jordan Store a couple of times with my friends but I could not find any nice shoes that were still in stock; you must have been really lucky! A couple of questions I have are: 1) How were these shoes still in stock if they are such a “hype” shoe? 2) Is there any way to fix the heel crack? I think that the Jordan 6 is one of the most unique and best Jordan’s there are and I want a pair for myself. After reading your blog I assume that the Maroon 6 is your favorite Jordan in your collection? In the future you should do one large blog about all of the shoes in your collection so everyone can see all of the shoes you have!
